We love people, and think nothing is more beautiful than a group of people. When people gather together from different backgrounds in a unifying way, it’s a wonderful sight, and truly exemplifies what it means to be Canadian. Ottawa has been a place, were there has been no shortage of a good gathering, whether that be Canada day, Winterlude, cultural festivals, or the bustling streets of the market, and our art work draws inspiration from that. By in large there has been no large gatherings for the last two years. The pandemic has definitely created a tension, between the way people use to gather, and the way they gather now, yet in our sparse filled streets there are still memories of the way life use to be.

We are an artist duo composed of Amelia Schembri & Louis Denes. Together we are developing a unique painting style that borrows techniques from printmaking and media arts; creating large scale artworks that focus on color theory, and perspective as applied to crowds: crowdsourcing, herd mentality, the pandemic and other situation environments.

We like to create abstractions of people in a large-scale painting format. It is the perfect re-creation of a mass crowd of people with no specific identity, race, and gender. Everyone is captured in a perfect silhouette of paint, which translates into a vibrant multicolor display.

It is our greatest joy to create these infinite patterns of people. With-in repetition, containing subtle differentiations, a picture of poetic beauty forms, whether viewing these paintings on a small or large scale, the combination of each element adds to this viewing pleasure. Under the abstraction lens everything is beautiful to us! We want to give that to people.
